This is one of the more busy state parks, it's also pretty large and has
quite a few miles of hiking trails, I'm thinking they add up to over 40
miles, so needless to say we haven't been up them all yet. It's one of
the parks that we have to travel the furthest to get to: all the way down 17
to Arcadia and then across west along Hwy 70 and then Hwy72.
The Riverside Trail is one of the nicest trails in the park and the
widest views can been seen from the Canopy
Walkway. Myakka River is also one of the best state
parks you can visit if you want to see some
gators.

This is one of the nice shaded hiking trails in the middle of the park,
even in the middle of the day in June we were able to go for a pleasant walk
without getting too hot.

There was a whole part of the park burned out like this when we were there,
however, I'm not sure if it was part of the 'ecological burning' that they
do there.

Angus really enjoys getting out at the weekends he is so happy in the truck
with Gizz and Coop, he knows he is going to the state parks. Every
time the truck slows down near some nice countryside Angus starts making his
"Are we here yet??" noise. Especially if he sees a lake or river.

This park is one of the few where you can get something to eat and buy some
stuff to take home with you. This was their signage outside......kinda
twisted if you think about it.

Coop checkin' out the Islands trail near the north tip of the park.
