This
is one of the biggest if not the biggest of the preserves in the
Environmental Lands program at 7,000 acres. It is not far from
Haines city and thus not too far from where we stay.

As you can see some of the trails are a bit sandy, this doesn't make for
good walking, so I don't blame folks as much for not coming to these
preserves, but it's not as bad as Catfish Creek.

This gives you an idea of how big this place is, the trails go on for
ever.

You can tell why they used to come down here to cut wood for all the
sailing ships they were building up north, you don't get much straighter
pines.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Florida preserve or park with some Palmetto
scrublands.
