Crooked
Lake Prairie 2
Crooked
Lake Prairie is between Lake Wales and Frostproof on Hwy 17. It was
purchased by the county in 1997 and is over 500 acres in size. There
are a couple of good hiking trails here. One goes through the scrub
flats and the other goes next to the lake. Crooked lake in general
is a really nice area, and is definitely one of the places I wouldn't mind
moving to.

This is the trail head as you just get into the preserve. Straight
ahead is the hike thru the scrub flats and to the right at the sign is to
the lake. Cooper chose to go visit the waterfront.

They mention on the guide for the preserve that you have to watch out when
you are hiking as there is lots of Prickly Pear Cactus all over.
This is what you'll find, Cooper was ok and didn't get ripped up.

This is just the view thru the trees as you get down towards the lake.

And here is what it was like when we got down to the waterfront. I
think the water was actually more blue than the sky.

This just gives you an idea of how much Spanish Moss there is at some
parts of the trail. Very beautiful.
